Why Your Bridal Hair Trial Matters for Your Wedding Day

Updated: May 29

Once you've booked with me, your trial is where the magic happens. It's the difference between showing up on your wedding morning calm and prepared—or hoping things go well.

I've styled 500+ booked brides. The ones who do trials show up confident and completely prepared. Here's why trials matter, what happens, and how to make the most of yours.

Why Trials Exist (It's Not About Me Practicing)

A trial does three things:

  1. You see the actual style on your actual hair — not on a model with different texture, density, or face shape

  2. We solve problems together — maybe the style needs tweaking for your face shape, or your hair needs extra prep, or you realise you want something slightly or entirely different

  3. You feel calm on wedding day — because you've already done this once. You know how long it takes. You know how it feels. You know it works.

How Trials Work

Trials are only available to brides who have booked with me. Once you're locked in, I dedicate an entire day to your trial—the same way I would on your wedding day. No rushing. No squeezing you in between other clients. Since most of my destination brides are travelling into Scotland, I don't want you stressed about timing or potential travel delays. We'll have plenty of time.

When & Where:

  • Trials book 1–2 months in advance (gives you time to finalise details and have your dress)

  • We meet at my Aberdeen studio, or I travel to you if you're arriving early for your wedding weekend

  • Some brides opt to skip the advance trial entirely because they trust I get their vision—and they know I can deliver. For them, we meet a day or two before the wedding instead, which often turns into styling for pre-wedding events like welcome parties or rehearsal dinners. Their hair looks amazing for welcoming guests, and we can do a mini trial the day before so everything is locked in.

What Happens at Your Trial

Before you arrive:

  • Have photos of your dress

  • Bring reference photos you've been saving

  • Come with clean, dry hair if possible

When you arrive:

  • We'll spend time talking about your vision, your hair, your concerns

  • I'll ask about your wedding day timeline, your photographer's shot list, and what matters most to you

  • We'll test 1–2 styles so you see what actually works best on your hair

During styling:

  • You'll see exactly which products go in, in what order

  • I'll explain why I'm doing each step so it's not mysterious

  • You'll feel the texture, the hold, the finished look

After styling:

  • We'll take photos/videos from every angle

  • We'll talk about what you loved, what felt off, and what we'd adjust for wedding day

  • You'll leave knowing exactly what to expect

Questions to Ask at Your Trial

  • How long will getting ready take on the actual morning?

  • What time should I wake up?

  • How many touch-ups am I getting throughout the day?

  • What's the plan if it rains, gets really humid, or windy?

  • What products should I use on my hair at home?

The Real Talk Trials aren't cheap. Mine aren't. But here's why: I'm not rushing through this. I'm not fitting you in between five other brides. I'm giving you the space and expertise to feel completely prepared and confident.

Once you've booked, let's schedule your trial.
